Lifeguard Qualifications

The City of North Myrtle Beach's lifeguards must meet the minimum United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) standards which includes the following:
Ability to swim 500 meters in ten minutes or less
Successfully complete the Beach Patrols 56 hour Lifeguard Academy class and receive certification as a Lifeguard and in CPR, First Aid, and AED. (This will be taught during the Lifeguard Training Academy)
Lifeguard candidates are required to complete Lifeguard Academy and must be a minimum age of 16 years.

All certifications are provided at no cost to qualified applicants.
